1killed, 4 injured in Peshawar blast

Peshawar : Five persons including a child have been killed and 12 others sustained injuries when a suicide bomber blew himself up near Bara Qadeem check-post here on Thursday, police said.

The bomber detonated his explosive vest close to Bara Qadeem check-post, a border area of Peshawar and Khyber Agency. The check-post was jointly manned by Frontier Constabulary (FC) and police.

Abducted British boy not rescued yet: Punjab govt

Lahore: The Government of Punjab has clarified that it has yet to recover British boy Sahil Saeed Naqash, who was kidnapped by armed gunmen from Jehlum for heavy ransom.

Law Minister Rana Sanaullah has made this claim as a result of some misunderstanding, according to a statement issued by the Punjab government from Lahore on Thursday.
The statement said that the police have recovered another child Hamza Umad from Sialkot. He was abducted from Rawalpindi.

Cabinet approves restructuring of 8 public enterprises

Islamabad: The cabinet on Wednesday approved the restructuring of major eight Public Sector Enterprises (PSEs), which gobbled up more than Rs250 billion annually, with a view to bringing about financial discipline, revival and good governance.

ISLAMABAD: President Asif Ali Zardari has accepted the resignation tendered by Shaukat Fayaz Ahmed Tarin, Minister for Finance, Revenue, Statistics Planning and Development from the office of Federal Minister.

According to a notification of the Cabinet Division, the President has accepted the resignation of Shaukat Tarin from the office of the Federal Minister, under clause (3) of Article 92 of the Constitution of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan w.e.f February 28, 2010.
